Future Heritage
Something that is wearable what is that, does it mean that it needs to be comfy and loose or does it mean its meant for you? With this collection I wanted to go to the roots of something we are and wear looking at Dutch local costume history. During my research I discovered that the folkloric headwear changed over the years mostly in size.
Every generation the hats they would wear became bigger and bigger with more fabric. However nowadays the local costume has almost disappeared. So in my project I tried to visualize how it would be like in the future if the hats would have become the clothes.
By using patterns of the headwear and draping these patterns on a scaled mannequin I found futuristic silhouettes. And eventually made sketches of a mini collection and created one of my designs.
